the Panguni Uttiram Festival on 1st April 2007 at the Temple. All devotees,
friends and well wishers are invited to join this very important Festival.
PANGUNI UTTIRAM
The marriage of the god and goddess is the annual event of the Nadi Sri Siva
Subrahmanya
Swami Temple in the month of Panguni.
This month is also noted for the Uttiram festival for Lord Subrahmanya or Muruga..
It is that time for the village people, who are in their off-season of cane
cutting, to flock in numbers and offer fruits and prasadams to the Lord and
get blessed joined by other regular devotees of Lord Murugan..
The festival is also known as Kalyana Vrata since goddess Meenakshi is said
to have wedded god Sundaresa at Madurai on this day. It is the belief of the
Hindus that the people who observe this Vrata whole-heartedly and sincerely,
are blessed with all the boons.
On the morning of the final day the Vel or the lance, which is the chief weapon of Lord Subrahmanya, is taken out in a procession to the river bank or sea side, where devotees make offerings.

PONNU SWAMY GOUNDER OF LAUTOKA A STAUNCH DEVOTEE OF LORD MURUGAN. THIS IS A PRICELESS GIFT TO THE NADI TEMPLE. WE ARE EVER THANKFUL TO DR. GOUNDER FOR THIS WONDERFUL AND EYECATCHING STATUE. THIS VAHANAM ON RIDE AROUND THE TEMPLE AND NADI AWES THE DEVOTEES AND ONLOOKERS. ITS GLAMOUR AND ILLUMINATION WHILST ON PROCESSION IS AN EXPERIENCE ON ITSELF.
